I know it's been awhile, but as we all know life's a bitch.
Dr. Maynard scrubbed up to do some major work on Shrimpy today.
I photographed the butchering for a future malpractice suit...
Here is how things looked before, for those of you just tuning in.

Hm... Rear axles don't normally reside behind the vehicle. Looks like Shrimpy needs some spine removed...
After a little prep, and some consultation from King Ding Dong things got a bit drastic...

The doc added some 'legs' to the frame to keep things from folding in on him as he chopped away
SAFETY FIRST!
Now we get into the meat of the matter...

Hardmac Fab and I are going to get a patent on this revolutionary new "Air Frame" It's going to change four wheeling forever!

Investors anyone?..
Anyone?...
Bueller?...

The prep was good. Neither half moved much after the last bit o' fat was cut out.
So we sucked the rear end up to it's new home and clamped it into position

Everything matches and measures up nice and even. Maynard did a great job of preparing for this. All that's left is to glue it back together and add some strength to the area. The rear axle may look a little off center with the wheel wells right now, but that wheel well is only about 2/3rds the width that it will be when all is said and done. The frame should suck up under the body nicely. We took Shrimpy's 10 miles of wheel base down to a snug 105.5 inches. Once the front end gets linked, and moved to where it is center under the front fenders we should end up at right around 112".
Awesome work Maynard!
